The Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine seized counterfeit products worth UAH 400 million
Since the beginning of 2024, detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine (BEB) have discovered and seized counterfeit products worth a total of 400 million hryvnias as part of the investigation of criminal proceedings.
Among the fakes were a variety of goods, including appliances, power supplies, household chemicals, clothing, footwear, perfumes, automotive lubricants, food and excise goods. In total, the activities of more than 14 illegal factories that produced counterfeit goods of well-known global brands were documented.
For data BEB, detectives investigated 82 criminal proceedings under Article 229 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for liability for the illegal use of trademarks, brand names and indication of the origin of goods. As a result, 76 people received notices of suspicion, and 35 criminal proceedings against 68 people have already been brought to court.
One of the largest cases was the disclosure of the illegal production of perfumes, where 11 people were exposed in the illegal use of brands of global manufacturers. As a result of the operation, equipment and products worth 115 million hryvnias were seized. This case has already been referred to the court.
