The Cabinet of Ministers allowed to settle road accidents without police intervention

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine made changes to the Road Traffic Rules, which take into account the new terms of civil liability insurance for vehicle owners. About this it is said in Government Resolution No. 19.
The new rules provide that in the case of a traffic accident involving only two cars, if the damage is solely to property in the form of damage to the vehicles and no one is injured, the drivers may not call the police. Participants in road accidents have the right to independently prepare a report about the event in paper or electronic form for further submission to the insurer.
After filling out the report, drivers are allowed to leave the scene of the accident without necessarily informing the units of the National Police. Previously, the current edition of the Road Traffic Rules required participants in road accidents, in the absence of the police, to draw up a diagram of the accident on their own and subsequently contact the nearest post or agency of the National Police to process the materials.
According to the new requirements, drivers are required to carry a valid insurance policy of mandatory civil liability insurance of vehicle owners (in paper or electronic form). This document must be confirmed by information from the Unified Centralized Database or in the form of a “Green Card” insurance certificate issued by a foreign insurer.
