The Cabinet of Ministers has simplified the mechanism of prepayment for the purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, at the proposal of the Ministry of Defense, simplified the mechanism of advance payment for state contracts concluded by the state enterprise Defense Procurement Agency (AOZ). About this informs press service of the Ministry of Defense.
“This decision will speed up the supply of critical weapons and military equipment for the Armed Forces. Last year, the domestic arms manufacturer received a total of over 170 billion hryvnias under the contracts of the Ministry of Defense alone.”, — explained First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk.
According to the new rules, weapons manufacturers will be able to receive advance payments from AOZ for a period of up to 24 months.
“Improving the advance payment system will make it possible to quickly pay funds under concluded long-term contracts with Ukrainian manufacturers, in particular from the list of “Weapons of Victory”. Currently, there are 17 active contracts for the supply of long-range missiles, mortars, artillery installations, armored vehicles, etc., – said the director of the procurement policy department of the Ministry of Defense Hleb Kanevskyi.
According to the Ministry’s assessment, such a decision will contribute to the acceleration of the supply of critical weapons and military equipment for the Armed Forces.
