The Cabinet of Ministers has updated the rules of compensation for unused holidays of fallen military and police officers

The Government of Ukraine has made changes to the procedure for paying monetary compensation for unused vacation days to the families of fallen military and police officers. Now the amount of compensation will depend on the number of vacation days, which is calculated taking into account length of service and other factors. This was reported by a representative of the Cabinet of Ministers in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk and People’s Deputy Oleksiy Honcharenko after the regular meeting of the government.

According to the new rules, in the event of the death of military personnel or police officers in the year of their death, compensation for unused days of annual basic and additional leave will be determined based on the established number of calendar days of leave.

For servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, the National Guard, the State Border Service, the State Security Administration, the State Special Communications Service, the State Special Transport Service, and policemen of the National Police, the number of days of leave for which compensation is paid will depend on the following provisions:

For military personnel, the number of vacation days is determined in accordance with Article 10-1 of the Law of Ukraine “On Social and Legal Protection of Military Personnel and Their Family Members.” This can range from 30 to 45 calendar days depending on length of service and up to 15 additional days depending on service conditions.
