The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities has elected a new head of its office

An extended meeting of the Presidium of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities under the President of Ukraine took place in Kyiv. In the format of a video conference, more than 330 participants elected the new head of the Office of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities – Lilia Pashinna. She is also the head of the delegation of Ukraine at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. informs Office of the President of Ukraine.

“The Congress office should become a meeting place for community leaders and a platform for working out community problems. A place for direct, effective communication between members of Congress. A place where problematic issues that require the participation of the central government are resolved.” – said the head of OP Andriy Yermak.

He thanked the former head of the Congress Office, Vyacheslav Negoda, for his work and outlined the future directions of the Congress. One of the main ones is the development of the regional and local economy.

“This should become one of the long-term priorities for all of us. More investments, more added value, more jobs, therefore more taxes and strengthening the defense capability of our state.”, Yermak remarked.

Also, Congress should guarantee the effective use of funds from the state budget to provide people with quality educational, medical, social, rehabilitation services and support veterans and businesses. At the same time, Andriy Yermak called for the involvement of foreign aid and the active implementation of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project aimed at helping Ukrainian defenders.

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal also took part in the meeting, who informed about the legislative support of the state regional policy and government projects and programs that will be implemented in communities and regions this year.
