EU and the world

The coronavirus was bred in a Chinese laboratory with the financial support of the United States

The Republican-led U.S. House of Representatives Committee completed two-year investigation into the causes of the COVID-19 pandemic and published a final report. In a 520-page document, the special subcommittee on the pandemic concludes that the coronavirus most likely originated in a laboratory in Wuhan.

The authors of the report point to the biological features of the virus, which are rarely found in nature, as well as cases of illness among employees of the Wuhan Institute of Virology in the fall of 2019.

“By almost all scientific standards, if there were evidence of a natural origin, it would have surfaced by now”, the report notes.

Although most US intelligence agencies have concluded that the virus was not genetically modified, there is still no definitive evidence of its origin. A previously published US intelligence analysis suggested the possibility of both a laboratory and natural origin of the virus. At the same time, no US federal agency believes that COVID-19 was created as a biological weapon.

The report also criticizes the World Health Organization (WHO), which the authors say has acted in the interests of the Chinese government rather than its core mission of helping people around the world. In particular, the report alleges that the WHO allowed the Chinese Communist Party to influence the investigation into the origin of the virus.

The document criticizes measures to mitigate the consequences of the pandemic, including social distancing and the mask regime. The report states that prolonged lockdowns have caused serious damage not only to the US economy, but also to the mental and physical health of citizens, with a particularly negative impact on young people.
