The court chose a measure of restraint for an ex-official of the Kyiv City State Administration in the case of embezzlement of 60 million hryvnias

At the request of SBU investigators and prosecutors of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, the court chose a preventive measure for the former deputy head of the health care department of the KMDA. He is suspected of embezzling 60 million hryvnias allocated for social assistance to palliative patients. About this informs press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
“The Solomyansk District Court of Kyiv chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of making a bail in the amount of 57 million hryvnias”, the message says.
The suspect was apprehended while trying to flee abroad, where he tried to avoid justice. The SBU exposed the embezzlement of almost 60 million hryvnias from the KMDA budget, which were allocated for social assistance to palliative patients. As the investigation established, four people were involved in this arrangement, in particular, two deputy heads of the department of social and veteran policy of the KMDA.
KMDA officials concluded a contract with an accomplice company in the amount of 149 million hryvnias, for which the contractors were to provide daily palliative care to seriously ill citizens, including free medical care, purchase of medicines and food products. Instead, almost a third of these funds were spent on the purchase of premium cars and luxury real estate, which “on paper” should have been used for the needs of patients.
In addition, during the investigation, it was found out that the director of the KNP “Clinical Hospital “Psychiatry” received the 2nd group of disability for no reason. Thanks to a fake medical certificate, he received “armor” from mobilization, the opportunity to travel abroad and regular pension payments from the state budget. It was this “medical certificate” that he tried to use to illegally cross the border in the direction of the European Union.
All four organizers of this “scheme” were notified of suspicion under several articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
