The court overturned the sentence in the form of a fine to the ex-head of the Brovary District State Administration, who drunkenly knocked down four people

The Kyiv Court of Appeals upheld the prosecutor’s appeal and overturned the verdict, according to which the former head of the Brovarsk District State Administration was fined for committing an accident while intoxicated. About this informs Office of the Prosecutor General.
“According to the principled position of the juvenile prosecutors of the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Kyiv Court of Appeal satisfied the prosecutor’s appeal against the verdict of the Brovarsky City District Court, appointing a new trial in the court of first instance,” the message reads.
The case will be reviewed again. The incident occurred on April 26, 2024 in Brovary. The exhibition gardener, having 2.31 ppm of alcohol in his blood, ignored the red light of the traffic light, drove to the side of the road and ran over four pedestrians, including a child. All victims were hospitalized.
The case was widely discussed by the public, especially after the verdict, which caused a wave of outrage. The former official was fined 31,432 hryvnias, and the Volvo car he was driving at the time of the accident was returned to its owner — it was previously stored at the penalty area. The verdict was handed down by the Brovary court presided over by judge Tetyana Vasylenko.
