The European Commission approved the volume of quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products

European Commission confirmed volumes of quotas for Ukrainian agricultural products, which will be effective from June 6 until the end of 2025 within the framework of the Agreement on the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA).
According to the decision of the European Commission, during 7 out of 12 months of the year (“7/12” formula), Ukraine will be able to export to the EU the following volumes: wheat, flour and meslin — 583.33 thousand tons. tons; corn — 379,167 thousand tons; barley — 204,167 thousand tons
As for poultry meat, the maximum volume of supply is 52,511 thousand. tons It is distributed by periods: “4/7 of the amount for the period from June 6 to September 30 and 3/7 of the amount for the period from October 1 to December 31.” The same approach is applied to the export of beef, the volume of which is limited to 7,000 tons. tons, and eggs – 3500 tons.
By the end of 2025, it is also allowed to supply the EU market with 5,833 tons of milk and cream, 2,917 tons of milk powder, and 1,750 tons of butter. The “7/12” formula provides that the quotas are calculated in proportion to the period of validity of the regulation — from June to December, that is, for 7 out of 12 months of the year. It is this scheme that determines the limits of duty-free exports during the second half of 2025.
The decision was made within the framework of a package of temporary autonomous trade measures aimed at supporting the agricultural sector of Ukraine. At the same time, the European Commission also took into account protective mechanisms for farmers of EU member states.
The first autonomous trade measures (ATM) entered into force on June 4, 2022 — they temporarily canceled tariffs, quotas and other trade restrictions for Ukrainian products. Later, these events were extended to June 6, 2023 and June 6, 2024.
