The European Commission is finalizing work on an alternative version of the “trade visa-free regime” for Ukraine

The European Commission is finalizing the preparation of a new initiative for Ukraine to replace the current “visa-free trade” regime with the EU, which provides for the abolition of import duties and quotas on Ukrainian goods by June 5, 2025. About this reported European Commission spokesman Olof Gill.
The spokesperson of the European Commission noted that work is currently underway on a new form of trade cooperation with Ukraine, and the proposal will be presented to Kyiv in the near future.
“The Commission is determined to hold consultations with Ukraine in accordance with Article 29 of the Association Agreement, and our goal is to resolve the issue of mutual tariff liberalization. We are finalizing work on this proposal and will present it to Ukraine as soon as possible.” Gill explained.
He also emphasized that the initiative aims to ensure stability for entrepreneurs and farmers both in Ukraine and in the countries of the European Union.
We will remind that in May 2024, the EU finally approved the decision to extend the “trade visa-free” for Ukraine. The regime of duty-free and quota-free trade has been extended for another year.
On April 9, some mass media reported that after the end of the current mechanism on June 5, 2025, new trade preferences for Ukraine will not be granted immediately.
