The European Commission presented a White Paper to build Europe’s defense

The European Commission and the EU High Representative presented the “White Paper on European Defense – Readiness 2030”. The document forms a new approach to defense and defines the investment needs of the EU, explained head of European diplomacy Kaya Callas.

“In the White Paper, we took into account the proposals contained in the initiative to support Ukraine. This includes more aid for Ukraine, including more ammunition – at least two million units (projectiles) per year – as well as air defense equipment, drones, training and equipping Ukrainian brigades. It also includes direct support for the Ukrainian defense industry and increased access to space services.

The new SAFE instrument (a €150 billion credit facility) proposed by the European Commission will help achieve this ambitious goal.” – said Kallas.

The “White Paper” outlines possible directions for member states to significantly increase investments in the field of defense, purchase weapons and strengthen the capabilities of the European defense industry for a long period.

“This is important for the security of Europe. Europe must invest in the security and defense of the continent, while continuing to support Ukraine in its defense against Russian aggression” – emphasized in the European Commission.
