The first interactive Museum of Mathematics “Kuboid” was opened in Ukraine. From May 1, it will be open to visitors, reported Ministry of Education and Science.
“This is a strategic educational project aimed at making mathematics exciting, accessible and interesting. Its main goal is to help Ukrainian students overcome educational losses in mathematics, to change approaches to its teaching through innovative methods and the popularization of STEM disciplines. It is interesting that “Kuboid” became only the fourth such museum in Europe and the fifth in the world!” – says the message.
It is noted that in addition to exhibitions, the Museum of Mathematics will offer educational programs for two main groups – educators and children. These programs will be available both directly at the museum and online for all interested parties.
“The Museum of Mathematics is a unique space that combines six thematic and four educational zones for schoolchildren and teachers, as well as 120 interactive exhibits. We collected many of them around the world while working at the National Academy of Sciences “MANU”. We strive to make the museum accessible to all regions of Ukraine. Therefore, in addition to the physical space, it provides online activities, and in the future we plan to launch a mobile exhibition with an educational component.” – added the Ministry of Education.
In particular, the museum will offer the following opportunities for students: to learn theory through touch and interaction with exhibits; fill gaps in knowledge thanks to special online programs developed by educators and scientists; to develop critical thinking, logic and spatial imagination. For teachers, the following are provided: special courses and trainings for the implementation of interactive methods in education; space for classes, master classes and workshops; professional environment for exchange of experience and professional development.
“At the moment, the space will work in test mode. The first to gain access to the museum will be schools whose students won this year’s All-Ukrainian Mathematics Olympiad. During the test period, the first classes for children and teachers will be held. And from May 1, the Museum of Mathematics will be available to all who wish.” — the Ministry of Education notes.
