The first meeting of the new government will be held in France

On January 3, the new French government headed by French Prime Minister Francois Bayrou will hold its first meeting. About this informs BFMTV.

The first meeting of the government will be held on Friday, January 3, at the Elysée Palace with the participation of French President Emmanuel Macron. Before the start of the meeting, the ministers will gather for a traditional “post-holiday” breakfast in the building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

One of the main topics of the meeting will be the discussion of the main provisions of the government policy declaration, which Bayru plans to present to the parliament on January 14. The new government will face a number of important challenges, including preparing the budget for 2025.

This task is complicated by the lack of a parliamentary majority among President Macron’s allies, which creates risks for making financial decisions. It is worth noting that the inability to find a compromise on the budget was one of the reasons for the resignation of the previous government led by Michel Barnier.

We will remind that earlier Francois Bayrou held a number of bilateral meetings with ministers, and also talked with Macron for more than two hours during a working lunch. Key positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense remained with their previous heads, despite the change in the composition of the government.
