The General Staff of Ukraine commented on the situation in the Suzhan district of the Kursk region, stressing that the fighting is under the control of the Ukrainian command, and Russian troops are suffering significant losses. “Information about a massive breakthrough by Russian units of the state border of Ukraine is not true. In the areas of Novenke and Zhuravka settlements of the Sumy region, the enemy is still operating with DRG forces and small infantry groups of several people. They are trying to gain a foothold on the territory of Ukraine in order to expand the combat zone, but they are gradually being destroyed.
In addition, the combined sabotage and assault groups of the enemy moved along the branch of the gas pipeline in order to gain a foothold on the outskirts of the city of Suja in the Kursk region. Currently, the forces of Russian special forces are detected, blocked and destroyed. The enemy’s losses in Suja are very high.” – the message says.
The General Staff reported that fierce fighting continues in the Kursk region, the situation remains difficult, but is under the control of the Ukrainian command. In particular, the reserves of the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces were involved in the fighting, which made it possible to strengthen the defense and inflict significant losses on Russian units.
The enemy carried out the most active assaults in the direction from Korenevo to Suzha, as well as near Novoivanivka, Malaya Lokna and south of Suzha.
For the assaults, the enemy engaged the most capable units, in particular the marines (the 177th regiment and the 810th brigade), landing forces, Kadyriv troops from the “Akhmat” battalion, the 1427th regiment, as well as two battalions of mercenaries from the DPRK.
