The government approved changes to the licensing of medical practice

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a resolution that makes changes to the Licensing Conditions for economic activity in medical practice. About this informs press office of the Ministry of Health.

Under the updated rules, licensing will now be based on specific types of medical care (such as primary, emergency, specialty, palliative, rehabilitation) and medical specialties. This approach prevents situations where, due to a violation or temporary absence of a specialist in one specialty, the license for the entire activity of an institution or an individual entrepreneur may be terminated. This will contribute to the stability of the provision of medical services and reduce risks for patients.

“Today’s decision is about the maturity and resilience of the health care system. It allows us not only to maintain the continuity of medical care, but also to act flexibly, balancedly, with a focus on the needs of the patient. We are eliminating excessive regulation, which until now could stop the work of an entire medical facility due to a point violation or a staffing problem. In the conditions of war, this is critical. Our task is to create conditions under which the medical system is stable and medical care is available – without pauses and compromises in quality”, — emphasized Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko.

In addition, the issue of replacement maintenance therapy has been settled: from now on, it is prohibited to provide it with the use of narcotic drugs in multi-apartment residential buildings. This decision was made taking into account numerous appeals from citizens, law enforcement agencies, representatives of public organizations and local authorities.

The new licensing conditions also open up opportunities for individual entrepreneurs: they have been granted the right to provide rehabilitation care, which significantly expands patients’ access to such services in martial law conditions. The requirements for the provision of psychiatric care in a hospital have also been updated. The changes are aimed at strengthening the protection of patients’ rights and creating a safe and appropriate environment for them in healthcare facilities.
