The government has allocated additional funds to local communities to build shelters

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has decided to provide an additional 272.5 million hryvnias of subvention from the state budget to local communities for the construction of shelters in educational institutions. About this reported Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.

The funds will be transferred to the budgets of twenty-one regions and the city of Kyiv.

“These are funds for the provision of safe conditions in educational institutions. We made the appropriate decision today. We expect the regions and communities to use these funds effectively. Our common goal is to protect every child, create a comfortable educational environment, and give children space to gain knowledge, socialize and develop.”Shmyhal explained.

Shmyhal also specified that within the framework of the “School Offline” initiative, more than 11 billion hryvnias of subsidies and subventions have been provided for the construction of shelters in 2025, and more than 2 billion hryvnias for the purchase of school buses.

“In 2025, together with communities, we plan to implement 185 shelter construction projects in Ukrainian schools”, – noted the Prime Minister.

We will remind that on April 18, the government has already distributed 830 million hryvnias of subvention for the arrangement of shelters in schools.

“These are funds for the continuation of work on arranging shelters and safe conditions in educational institutions. Funding will be received by 15 communities, as well as the regional budgets of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions.”, – emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

During 2024, Kyiv has allocated 2.4 billion hryvnias for shelter, improving fire safety in schools, preparing for the winter period, and creating training centers on the subject “Protection of Ukraine”.
