The government has improved the mechanisms for the circulation of animal by-products

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has improved the mechanisms for regulating the circulation of by-products of animal origin. For this, the government was approved resolution “Some issues of implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On by-products of animal origin not intended for human consumption”.
The purpose of the document is the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with the norms of the European Union. It was developed by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine with the expert support of the EU EU4SaferFood project.
The resolution establishes the legal and organizational principles for ensuring the proper circulation of by-products of animal origin and the products of their processing and processing. In particular, it is about approving the Procedure for issuing, reissuing, issuing a duplicate and canceling an operating permit, the form of such a permit, as well as the Procedure for state registration of relevant facilities (powers).
The adoption of this resolution will contribute to the circulation of safe products of animal origin, the formation of a fair and competitive business environment in the relevant sector, the preservation of epizootic welfare on the territory of Ukraine, Ukraine’s fulfillment of obligations within the framework of the Association Agreement with the EU, as well as increasing the effectiveness of state control over the production and circulation of by-products.
The resolution enters into force from the moment of its official publication and is put into effect simultaneously with the Law of Ukraine No. 1206-IX “On Veterinary Medicine”.
The EU4SaferFood project is an initiative of the European Union aimed at supporting reforms in the field of food safety, health protection and animal welfare. It provides assistance to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the State Production and Consumer Service in the development and implementation of reforms based on European legislation, in particular in the areas of food safety, phytosanitary control and veterinary medicine.
