The government is implementing the automatic assignment of the status of UBD

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has taken an important step in the direction of automatically granting the status of a participant in hostilities (UBD). At the meeting on September 10, the government approved resolution No. 1041 entitled “Some issues of automatically granting the status of a participant in hostilities during martial law”, which introduces a new Procedure for assigning the status of UBD in real time during martial law.

This resolution was developed by experts of the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs on the basis of amendments to the law “On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection”. The document provides a clear procedure, grounds and necessary information for automatic granting of UBD status.

According to the new Procedure, the status of a participant in hostilities automatically enters into force after the corresponding entry is made in the Unified State Register of War Veterans. These data must be entered by the authorized persons of the military units within five days from the moment of execution of the combat order.

Minister of Veteran Affairs Natalia Kalmykova emphasized, that this decision significantly simplifies the process of obtaining UBD status for military personnel who do not have to go through lengthy bureaucratic procedures while performing their duties. The next step is to create digital tools that will ensure the efficient operation of the new system.

The Ministry also plans to finalize the Unified State Register of War Veterans and ensure the technical possibility for officials of the security forces to enter the necessary records about the participation of servicemen in combat operations.
