The HACC began consideration of the case against the former First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine

The panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court (HCAC) has appointed and started the case on the merits of accusing the former First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine of embezzlement of state funds. About this reported SAP press office.

According to the results of the pre-trial investigation, it was established that in 2010, in collusion with the head of State Investments, the First Deputy Prime Minister organized the illegal allocation from the budget of about 170 million hryvnias for the benefit of OJSC “Semiconductor Factory”, whose beneficiary he became as early as 2008. The funds were allegedly directed to the development of an innovative project, but were actually appropriated.

“Subsequently, individuals, using a similar scheme, transferred UAH 25.3 million to the accounts of controlled companies, allegedly to promote the development of energy-saving technologies, but in fact they were also wasted. These actions caused losses in the amount of almost UAH 200 million.”, – said the message of the SAP.

Since the accused is hiding in the Russian Federation, the court decided to issue a summons to the hearings through subpoenas that were published on the website of the Prosecutor General’s Office and in the media. In addition, the court decision has already been handed over to the self-government bodies of lawyers to resolve the issue of the responsibility of the defendant’s defense attorneys for failure to appear in court without valid reasons.

The investigation into the case was started in 2014, and in 2019 it was transferred to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau. The actions of the former First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine are qualified under Part 3 Art. 27, ch. 5th century 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and the actions of the ex-head of the State Agency – under part 5th century 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Since the former deputy prime minister is wanted, a special pre-trial investigation “in absentia” was conducted in relation to him.
