The head of NATO: we need to speed up the production of military equipment

NATO countries must produce more military equipment to counter the growing threat from Russia. This was announced by General Christopher Cavoli on June 6 in an interview with the AFP news agency.
“As for military equipment… we need to produce more, we need to expand our industrial base”, – said Cavoli, speaking at the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy.
The general stressed that the alliance is “ready for collective territorial defense”, recalling the large-scale exercise called Steadfast Defender 24, in which 90,000 servicemen of the allied forces took part from January to May.
“Over the last few years, we have completely shifted our emphasis: we used to conduct operations outside the territory, and now we are focused on the defense of the alliance territory.
We need to produce machinery as soon as possible. I think that all the countries of the alliance understand this and are working on it.” – said Cavoli
The general emphasized that the alliance intends to “purposefully study everything related to this conflict (the war between Ukraine and Russia) so that we can (take it all into account) and develop.”
Cavoli mentioned innovative uses of technology, such as low-cost drones used by both Russia and Ukraine for reconnaissance and strikes.
“NATO troops will learn the methods and tactics used in Ukraine in a new training center that will be created in Poland”, – added Cavoli.
