NATO has established “red lines” for intervention in the war in Ukraine: the possible involvement of troops in the event of an attack on Kyiv or the Baltic states
According to insider information, NATO has identified two “red lines” that could lead to direct military intervention of the alliance in the war in Ukraine.
He writes about it The Republic.
The first “red line” is the involvement of Belarus in the conflict. This may happen in the event of a direct or indirect invasion of Belarusian troops into Ukrainian territory, probably from the north, towards Kyiv. Such a scenario is considered realistic by several NATO analysts, because the participation of Belarus will significantly strengthen Russian forces and complicate the defense of Ukraine.
The second “red line” is any military provocation or attack on the Baltic states, Poland or Moldova. It can be both a full-scale invasion and local strikes to test the West’s reaction. Sources indicate that the Kremlin may expect NATO’s attention to wane because of the election season in Europe and the US, but the alliance will not tolerate such aggression.
It is important to emphasize that there are currently no concrete plans to send NATO troops to Ukraine. These “red lines” only delineate the boundaries beyond which alliance intervention is likely. A decision on any action will be taken only if one of these situations occurs.
