The hearing in the case of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump was postponed for almost a year

The District Court of the State of Florida postponed the hearing in the case of 58-year-old Ryan Routh, who is accused of attempting to attack Donald Trump during his stay at a golf club, until September next year. About this informs ABC News.

“Ryan Rout’s trial to begin on September 8 – instead of the previously scheduled date of February 10, 2025”, – the message says.

Raut’s lawyers asked the court to postpone the hearing until December 2025, citing the need for more time to analyze the evidence and determine a defense strategy, including the possibility of using an argument about their client’s insanity.

The investigation reports that Raut was in possession of 17 mobile phones and numerous electronic devices. He was previously convicted of federal crimes in North Carolina in December 2002 and March 2010. The media also spread rumors about his possible participation in hostilities in Ukraine, which official Kyiv denied.

According to prosecutors, Routh had been plotting to assassinate Trump for weeks before carrying out the assassination attempt on September 15 while the former president was playing golf at his club in West Palm Beach. The accused categorically denies all the charges.

If Raut is found guilty of the assassination attempt on the main contender for the presidential seat, he faces life in prison. In addition, he is charged with assaulting a federal officer and violating firearms laws. The accused is currently being held without bail in a Miami jail.
