The investigation into the video with the possible beheading of the Ukrainian defender has been launched: the Prosecutor General’s Office
Law enforcement officers are conducting operative investigative actions to verify this information and clarify all the circumstances related to the incident.
Under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with intentional murder (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). About this informs press service of the department.
On August 16, a video appeared on social networks in which representatives of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation show the head, probably of a Ukrainian serviceman, impaled on a stake. This video caused a wide response and became the basis for immediate investigative actions.
As part of the investigation, law enforcement agencies are conducting prompt investigative actions to thoroughly verify the information and find out all the circumstances related to this terrible incident. The distribution of such a video by representatives of the Russian Federation once again confirms their complete disregard for the norms and principles of international humanitarian law.
The investigation is being carried out by the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the SBU, who are doing everything possible to identify the persons involved in this crime and bring them to justice.
