The Ministry of Defence returned five land plots with a total area of about 170 hectares to state ownership

The Ministry of Defence, in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice, has returned to state ownership five land plots with a total area of about 170 hectares located in Odesa and Cherkasy regions. This was reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
For many years, these lands were part of the defence territories and were used for military training, but later they were illegally transferred to private ownership.
Regular monitoring revealed that the land plots, whose market value exceeds UAH 10 million, were illegally transferred to private use by local authorities and used for commercial activities for profit.
The Anti-Raider Commission of the Ministry of Justice upheld several appeals by the Ministry of Defence, deciding to cancel the illegal registration of the five plots. This is aimed at strengthening the ability of the Defence Forces to perform their tasks more effectively.
In the last three months alone, 1,500 hectares of land at a training ground in Odesa region that had previously been seized and illegally sown were returned and registered through court decisions. The process of returning approximately 1,000 hectares of the same training ground is currently underway.
The Defence Ministry’s Defence Land Directorate emphasises that such land is of particular strategic importance and its illegal use is a threat to the state.
As reported earlier, the Specialised Prosecutor’s Office also defended the interests of the Ministry of Defence in a case of illegal sale of military property.
