The National Bank received record donations to a special account

Over the past month, 11.7 billion hryvnias have been deposited into the special account opened by the National Bank to support the Armed Forces on February 24, 2022. This exceeds receipts for December 2024, which amounted to almost 11 billion hryvnias, and is a significant part of the total for the entire year 2024, when less than 16 billion hryvnias equivalent was collected. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 61.8 billion hryvnias have been transferred to the special account. As of February 1, 2025, the balance of funds in the NBU account amounted to 18.3 billion hryvnias.
Donations came both from citizens and businesses of Ukraine, and from the international community, in particular from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, France, Canada, Bulgaria, Hong Kong and many other countries.
More than 40.9 billion hryvnias equivalent in various currencies, including US dollars, euros, pounds sterling, Canadian dollars, Chinese renminbi, yen, Swiss francs, zlotys, and Australian dollars, came to the account from abroad.
In total, since the beginning of the war, the National Bank has transferred almost 43.4 billion hryvnias from the special account for defense needs, of which in January 2025 – more than 5.4 billion hryvnias.
