The NHSU will conclude three-year contracts with medical institutions starting from 2025

Starting from January 2025, the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) will be able to conclude contracts with medical institutions for a period of one to three years, instead of the usual one-year contracts that have been in place until now. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Health noted that the transition to three-year contracts will help reduce bureaucratic procedures, in particular, minimise the need to renegotiate contracts every year, and allow for more accurate funding planning and forecasting of activities for medical institutions.

“Currently, when contracting with the NHSU is carried out annually, it creates certain difficulties: the need to duplicate previous agreements, check the same documents and work within a limited time frame to conclude new contracts. With the new contracting model, healthcare facilities providing primary, emergency, cluster and supercluster care will be able to work more stably and efficiently,’ the Ministry explained.

This reform will be an important step towards stabilising the operation of healthcare facilities, allowing them to focus on the quality of healthcare services and improve long-term financial planning.

In addition, it is worth recalling that the Ministry of Health has approved a list of diseases for which medical cannabis-based medicines are allowed to be prescribed and can be obtained by electronic prescription. The dosage of such medicines will be determined by the doctor individually for each patient.
