As of October 1, 2024, 8,543 subjects were entered into the State Register of Publishers, Manufacturers and Distributors of Publishing Products, of which 6,295 are legal entities, and 2,248 are natural persons-entrepreneurs. About this informs State Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine.
According to the data of the department, the largest share of subjects of the publishing business is engaged only in publishing activities — 2,322 companies. Another 683 are engaged in the production of publishing products, and 547 in their distribution. Other subjects combine two or three types of activities in the field of publishing.
Derzhkomteleradio also notes that in Ukraine there is an increase in the number of companies and individual entrepreneurs who seek to engage in book publishing, although the exact number of the increase is not specified.
The following regions lead by the number of registered publishers:
- Kyiv — 3193 subjects,
- Kharkiv region — 1001,
- Kyiv region — 482,
- Dnipropetrovsk region — 457,
- Lviv region — 443.
It will be recalled that it was previously reported that the Kharkiv printing house “Faktor-Druk”, which suffered significant destruction during the Russian missile attack on May 23, is gradually resuming its activities.
It is also worth noting that the general director of Ranok publishing house Viktor Kruglov predicts a 20-30% increase in the retail price of books in 2025. This is due to the increase in the cost of printing services, as well as the impact of power outages, which have forced many print shops to run on generators.
