The President of the NAAS of Ukraine was informed of suspicion of embezzlement of budget funds
Under the procedural guidance of the Office of the General Prosecutor to the President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine announced suspicion of waste of budget funds.
He is accused of aiding and abetting the embezzlement of someone else’s property, perpetrated by a group of persons based on a prior conspiracy (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, he employed his driver simultaneously at four state-owned agricultural enterprises under his control. In fact, the driver did not perform his duties at these enterprises, but only transported the president of the National Academy of Sciences in the company car of one of the enterprises.
In 2020, the president of the National Academy of Sciences personally approved the staff lists, knowing that the same person was listed in each institution. This made it possible to calculate wages for actually non-existent work. As a result of such actions, funds for fictitious employment were paid from the state budget.
The investigation qualifies the actions of the president of the National Academy of Sciences as aiding and abetting the embezzlement of state property, perpetrated by a prior conspiracy (Part 3 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). In June 2025, the SBI employees searched the people involved in the case. The President of the National Academy of Sciences has been charged with suspicion, and the question of choosing a preventive measure for him is currently being resolved.
