The management of Ukrposhta has been planning to create a bank subordinate to the postal operator for several years. This will make it more convenient to carry out financial transactions and services offered by the company. The International Monetary Fund recently endorsed this initiative.
In the updated memorandum of the IMF on economic and financial policy, it was agreed to create specialized banks that could be linked to the postal infrastructure.
Ukraine has undertaken to develop a draft law on new specialized and limited banking activity by the end of July this year, which will facilitate quick access to financial services based on the postal infrastructure. First of all, we are talking about the regions most affected by hostilities.
New banks, which can be created on the basis of postal operators, will participate in the Ukrainian deposit insurance scheme. They will be subject to strict conditions of limits imposed on lending and financing operations.
We would like to remind you that from July 1, Ukrposhta will increase the cost of services. For example, for sending parcels under the “Ukrposhta Standard” tariff, you will now have to pay an average of UAH 5-9 more.
