The Russian Federation launched a missile attack on Sumy: 10 dead, including two children

On the evening of November 17 at 8:38 p.m., Russian troops launched a ballistic missile attack on the city of Sumy. The strike hit a densely populated residential neighborhood, causing numerous casualties and destruction. The worst hit was a nine-story building in which hundreds of people lived.

According to information The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, as of 11:25 p.m., 10 people are known to have died, including two children. 51 people have been injured, including five children.

At the same time, the Sumy City Council reported other information:

“Today, 10 residents of the city of Sumy were killed by an enemy rocket, including a 9-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl. 55 adults and 8 children were injured.”

It is also reported that more than 400 people were evacuated from the damaged house in Sumy.

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ihor Klymenko, said that to help the victims, the headquarters for liquidation of the consequences of an emergency situation, which was located in children’s educational institution No. 9, was deployed. Rescuers, police and other necessary services are at the scene of the incident, which provide people with support, help overcome injuries and provide medical care. The police are documenting the consequences of this war crime by accepting statements from affected citizens.

As a result of the evening shelling of Sumy, 784 consumers, including five apartment buildings, were left without gas supply, as reported by the Gas Network branch.

Sumy City Council reported that on November 18-19 in Sumy, days of mourning were declared for those who died as a result of a missile strike.
