Kyiv authorities call on the government to carry out immediate restoration of the Patona bridge: details of the demand
In an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers, it is noted that the Paton bridge was handed over to the "Great Construction" project for repair.
The city authorities of Kyiv appealed to the government with the demand to immediately take measures for the restoration of the bridge named after E.O. Paton across the Dnipro River and its approaches to avoid emergency situations. The corresponding letter was signed by the mayor of Kyiv Vitaliy Klitschko on August 1. informs Kyiv City Council.
The Kyiv City Council reminded that the Paton Bridge was handed over for repair as part of the “Big Construction” project at the insistence of the government and the Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine. According to Cabinet Resolution No. 1271, the Service for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure in the Kyiv region was identified as the customer of these works. In January 2023, the “Kyivavtodor” utility corporation handed over the functions of the customer for the execution of restoration works to this Service.
“The capital administration has repeatedly appealed to the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine, as well as to the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure in the Kyiv Region with a request to urgently take measures to restore the Paton Bridge, as it is of strategic importance for Kyiv. However, for two years, no no work was carried out to improve the condition of the building”, – emphasized in the city council.
The Kyiv city administration noted that the experts of the city utility company “Kyivavtoshlyakhmist” have been monitoring the bridge’s technical condition around the clock all this time. They also constantly perform a complex of works on operational maintenance of the building. In connection with the above-mentioned problems, the Kyiv city authorities require the government and relevant state bodies to immediately start restoration work on the Patona Bridge. They emphasize the importance of a timely response to ensure the safety and reliability of this strategically important infrastructure.
