The Russian Federation systematically uses chemical weapons: General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Russian Federation actively and systematically uses chemical weapons during the war against Ukraine. By data General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since February 2023, 5,389 cases of the use of dangerous chemical substances against the Ukrainian military have been recorded.
In a message published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, it is stated that Russian troops continue to use ammunition equipped with dangerous chemical substances. In particular, such types of ammunition as K-51 and RG-VO are used, which are officially classified as means of fighting riots, but are prohibited for use in war.
In December 2024, the units of radiation, chemical and biological intelligence of the Support Forces of the Armed Forces recorded 434 cases of the use of chemical munitions. This indicates the scale of the use of dangerous substances by Russia, which is systemic in nature and continues throughout the entire period of the full-scale invasion.
Since the beginning of large-scale aggression in February 2022, chemical intelligence units have been directly recording such cases. However, since February 2023, there has been a significant increase in the use of chemical weapons on the battlefield, which has become a characteristic feature of Russian warfare tactics.
It will be recalled that since the night of January 18, 89 combat clashes have been recorded at the front. The most intense battles took place in the Pokrovsky direction. The communities of Timofiivka in Kharkiv Oblast, Zalizny Most in Chernihiv Oblast, as well as Popivka, Sosnivka and Progres in Sumy Oblast were hit by Russian artillery and mortar attacks.
