According to the publication’s sources, during the operation in Kurshchyna, the Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced to the women’s colony, around which fierce battles are now taking place.
In the village of Mala Loknya, located only 14 kilometers from the border with Ukraine, the Russian military turned women’s correctional colony No. 11 into a kind of fortress. They actively resist the attacks of the Armed Forces, using the colony building as a defensive bastion. According to the material, even the colony’s guards can participate in the defense.
Since 2011, 203 convicted women have been held in this penitentiary, sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison. Currently, several dozen Russian soldiers have fortified themselves around the colony, who have erected barricades and use watchtowers to fire, and the massive walls of the colony serve as protection against Ukrainian attacks.
Bild also reports that Ukrainian troops are shelling the colony’s watchtowers with German-supplied Marder infantry fighting vehicles, as well as attacking enemy positions with drones.
Russian military bloggers confirm that the village of Mala Loknya is practically surrounded by Ukrainian forces, but inside the colony, Russian soldiers continue to hold the defense. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, all attacks by the Armed Forces on Mala Loknya were repelled. It is currently unknown how many prisoners are still in the women’s colony in Malya Lokna.
