The Speaker of the US House of Representatives does not plan to put financial aid to Ukraine to a vote
Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, said that the issue of additional aid to Ukraine will not be put to a vote in Congress. About this informs Voice of America. Earlier, Joe Biden sent a request to allocate $24 billion to support Ukraine in 2025.
“It is no longer up to Joe Biden to make such a decision. We have a new president-elect, and we’re going to wait and see how the new commander-in-chief strategizes about all of this.”, – noted Johnson.
He also added that at the moment he does not expect any funding for Ukraine to be approved. In his opinion, the victory of Donald Trump in the elections already affects the dynamics of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“We’re seeing it start to make a difference“, – emphasized Johnson.
US President Joe Biden has repeatedly pushed for the approval of military aid to Ukraine through Congress and the Pentagon. He emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine to strengthen its position both on the battlefield and at the negotiating table.
Donald Trump, who during the election campaign promised a quick end to the war in Ukraine, did not reveal the specific steps he plans to take to achieve this goal. At the same time, US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that the Biden administration continues to insist on the need to allocate additional funds to Ukraine in order to strengthen its position in any future negotiations with Russia.
