The state budget received three times more revenue from the gambling business
During the first half of 2024, the industry paid taxes in the amount of UAH 8.4 billion to the budget, which is almost 3 times more than in the same period of 2023.
During six months of 2024, the gambling business replenished the state budget with taxes in the amount of UAH 8.4 billion, which is almost three times more than in the same period of 2023. About this stated head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, Danylo Hetmantsev.
He explained that the industry paid 1.9 times more taxes as of June compared to June 2023.
According to Hetmantsev, the amount of tax on the profit of the gaming business increased by 7.3 times compared to the previous year, and the personal income tax by 26.1%. The People’s Deputy believes that, judging by such a discrepancy, it is still necessary to work with the tax on winnings.
Prior to that, People’s Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak informed that during the first five months of this year, the gaming business transferred UAH 7.38 billion to the budget. In addition, he provided several figures for comparison to understand whether it is too little or too much. In particular, tax revenues from the gambling business this year turned out to be 101 times higher than for January – May 2021, 38 times more than for January – May 2022, and 3 times more than for the same period in 2023.
“This is despite the fact that some operators were deprived of their licenses and there is still a large part of the shadow. But the result is on the scoreboard”, – Zheleznyak concluded.
It is worth reminding that in 2023 the gaming business paid more than UAH 10 billion in taxes. At the same time, the total turnover of the gaming business grew almost 15 times during the year, amounting to UAH 207 billion.
