The State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicions against a former employee of the Ministry of Defense who caused losses to the state of over 2 billion hryvnias

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation reported about the suspicion of the former acting director of the Department of State Procurement and Supply of Material Resources of the Ministry of Defense, whose actions caused the state losses exceeding 2 billion hryvnias.

The official is charged with official negligence under part. 2 Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and forgery of official documents in accordance with Part 4 Art. 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. During 2023, he concluded 76 contracts with business entities for the supply of lubricants, oil and distillates for specialized equipment for a total amount of over 17 billion hryvnias.

In violation of the requirements of Cabinet Resolution No. 178 of March 2, 2022 and Article 195 of the Tax Code of Ukraine, value added tax of over 2 billion hryvnias was unjustifiably included in the cost of supplies, which caused significant financial losses for the state.

Thanks to the work of the SBI investigators, it has already been possible to recover 1.865 billion hryvnias from the total amount of damages. The investigation is ongoing. Procedural management is carried out by the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the field of defense of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
