The Trump Show on X: Elon Musk provokes, the Harris-Waltz team raises money to answer lies

And although the interview started poorly, with a 40-minute delay, and many were never able to watch the show broadcast on X in real time, today the key points of the dialogue between Musk and Trump are in all advanced media. They are discussed, criticized, approved, in a word, they have a powerful resonance. During the conversation, Trump remained himself – ambitious, unrestrained, harsh towards opponents. He did not skimp on insults for Kamala Harris. Derided her as a “radical” Democrat who “destroyed” California when she was the state’s attorney general and later a senator. He called her the “king of the border” under the Biden administration, alluding to the problems of the growth of illegal migration.

Almost Melanie

Commenting on the cover of Time magazine with Kamala Harris, Trump paid a strange compliment. He declared that Harris looked “beautiful” as “the most beautiful actress who ever lived”. At the same time, he emphasized that the image was made in the form of a sketch and that Harris reminded him a lot of his wife, former first lady Melania Trump.

This prank of Trump was received by Democrats with indignation. In the context of political rhetoric, the compliment was clearly inappropriate and blatantly sexist.  Kamala Harris’ team condemned the interview, saying it was another example of extremist rhetoric from Trump and his team.

Changed his shoes in a jump

Elon Musk, who voted for Biden during the 2020 election, unexpectedly changed his rhetoric and expressed support for Donald Trump after the assassination attempt on him last month. He expressed admiration for the courageous behavior of Trump, who stood up after the shots and shook his fist, showing his resilience and determination.

Throughout the interview, Musk was gracious and flattering. He even suggested that he could help the incoming Trump administration as a member of a “commission on government efficiency.” Trump agreed, calling Musk the ultimate “cutter,” referring to his penchant for mass layoffs.

According to the information Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk has set a goal of wooing 800,000 Donald Trump voters in key states where the election results could be highly competitive. It’s part of a strategy that could include mobilizing support for Trump in critical areas that will ultimately affect the outcome of the election.

Musk, the world’s richest man, also plans to donate millions of dollars to a super PAC to support Trump’s campaign. Despite this, Musk emphasized that he does not consider himself a supporter of the MAGA (“Make America Great Again”) movement, which is the slogan of the Trump campaign.

This decision by Musk caused a significant resonance in the world politics, given its resource and technological potential, which can have a significant impact on the political landscape of the United States.

Alternative facts

Trump does not change his habits in handling information. And again he resorts to deception, calling it “alternative facts”.

We will remind that the term “alternative facts” was used by Kellyanne Conway, the adviser of the then US President Donald Trump, on January 22, 2017, during an interview with Chuck Todd on the Meet the Press program. This came after White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Trump’s inauguration drew the largest number of viewers in history. The statement was questioned, because photos and other data showed otherwise – about a smaller number of attendees compared to previous inaugurations. Responding to criticism, Kellyanne Conway ingeniously responded that Spicer provided “alternative facts.” This statement caused a significant resonance in the American political community and became a symbol of the manipulation of facts in political rhetoric.

The current election race is no exception. Trump, embarrassed by the growing ratings of the Democrats, writes in a Truth Social post that there was “nobody” at the Harris-Wolz rally held last week at the Detroit airport. It is clear that the event was documented by news photographers and television crews. An estimated 15,000 supporters cheered on the Democratic candidates. Such a crowd is hard not to notice – writes Eugene Robinson in the Washington Post and warns: Trump’s fantasies are getting out of control even for himself.

Is Trump back on Twitter (X)?

Elon Musk reinstated Donald Trump’s X platform account in 2022 after it was banned in 2020 due to the infamous events of January 6. Since the reinstatement, Trump has rarely used the account, mostly posting on his Truth Social platform. However, on the eve of the interview, he made several posts at once to promote his campaign and portray Kamala Harris as a “San Francisco radical”. In one of the posts, Trump asked: “Are you better off now than when I was president?” and declared: “We are a nation in decline.”

Given Trump’s disregard for all norms and canons of network communication, it is expected that his return to the big media field will bring even more uncertainty and risk to the unprecedented presidential race. It will be recalled that Twitter has long acted as Trump’s mouthpiece in the promotion of misleading, manipulative and half-truthful statements.

Trump believes in the power of the social network and feels like a real master here, an opinion leader who is listened to. After the interview, he ironically congratulated Musk for “breaking all records” for the number of people who tried to get in to listen.

With a large audience comes greater responsibility

Thierry Breton, the European Union’s internal market commissioner, called on Elon Musk to ensure that Platform X complies with EU law. This includes complying with the Digital Services Act, which was passed in 2022 to combat the problems caused by misinformation. The law requires major online platforms to take measures to prevent the spread of harmful content and ensure the safety of users.

Breton turned to Musk through X with the phrase “With a large audience comes greater responsibility” and warned of an increase in potentially harmful content due to the return to the scene of the former Twitter, now X unscrupulous Donald Trump.

Elon Musk responded to the letter with a curse word.

Money to answer lies

Kamala Harris, the vice president of the United States, addressed a letter to supporters with a request for financing just as former President Donald Trump was interviewing billionaire Elon Musk. The letter of support said money was needed to “answer their lies.”

“Elon Musk is now interviewing Donald Trump live on Twitter (we won’t call it ‘X’),” the Harris-Waltz campaign’s appeal began.

The letter, which asked for support for the campaign by “donating $25 now,” claimed Musk was trying to seize “control” of “our democracy” by inviting Trump to a widely anticipated interview on X.

It is significant that Kamala Harris took this step in parallel with the broadcast of the interview. This proves once again that she has no doubts about the quality and authenticity of the content that was published there.
