The Ukrainian Armed Forces will establish a School of Instructors as a single training unit for instructors

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are planning to establish a School of Instructors, which will be the only structure that will provide instructor training for all units of the Armed Forces according to unified standards. This was announced during a briefing at the Ukrainian national news agency Ukrinform by representatives of the Main Doctrine and Training Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonels Yevhen Mezhevikin and Vasyl Rumak.
According to Colonel Mezhevikin, the possibility of replacing officer teaching positions with sergeant positions is currently being discussed. This will help to raise the prestige of the NCO corps and increase its authority. It was also emphasised that the School of Instructors will become a single instructor training centre for all units of the Armed Forces, with the same standards. In addition, the school will provide refresher courses for existing instructors.
In addition, consideration is being given to freeing instructors from tasks not directly related to the training of recruits, allowing them to focus fully on the training process. This includes the exclusion from their duties of such tasks as housekeeping, logistics and business trips that are not related to the training of military personnel.
At the same time, Vasyl Rumak noted that the instructor training programme will be updated to remove those elements that have become outdated or do not meet current challenges.
According to Rumak, the instructors will have more time to master important skills that will help save the lives of servicemen and adapt them to the realities of the modern battlefield. This includes the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), electronic warfare (EW), topographic training, etc.
In addition, the need to involve servicemen with combat experience, both officers and NCOs, in the training process was emphasised.
“There should be a constant exchange of experience between military units and training centres, as the situation on the battlefield is changing due to the use of new tactics and technologies. This experience should be quickly transferred to the training centres. To this end, we will introduce a rotation of instructors between combat units and training centres,’ Mezhevikin said.
