The Ukrainian military hit a Russian bomber from a distance of 300 km

Head of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Kyrylo Budanov v interview The BBC revealed the details of the destruction of the Russian Tu-22M3 strategic bomber, which took place on April 19, 2024.

According to Budanov, the Ukrainian military waited a week for the Tu-22M3 to approach the required distance, and then hit it from a distance of more than 300 km. This operation became possible thanks to the use of various weapons systems, including those that were created “from scratch from old components” and modernized by Ukrainian engineers.

As informs public,  Ukraine uses a wide range of weapons to repel the Russian invaders.

“Something has been modernized. The engineers did a good job, believe me,” Budanov stressed.

The destruction of the Tu-22M3, which was carrying the Kh-22 cruise missiles that were wreaking havoc in Odesa, was a significant victory for the Ukrainian defense forces. This bomber, according to Budanov, was difficult to intercept, and its destruction should ease the situation for Odessa.

It is important to note, that this is not the only case of successful destruction of Russian air targets by Ukraine. On February 23, an A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft was shot down, and in January, the Defense Forces of Ukraine reported the downing of another A-50 and the destruction of the Il-22M11 command post.
