The Ukrainian Navy and the US Sixth Fleet intensify cooperation in port protection and seafarer training

The Ukrainian Navy is intensifying cooperation with the US Sixth Fleet, focusing on the training of military sailors and strengthening the protection of port infrastructure. About this reported the Commander of the Navy of Ukraine, Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa, after a telephone conversation with the Commander of the US Sixth Fleet, Vice Admiral Jeffrey Anderson.

During the discussion, attention was focused on joint exercises, in particular in the field of mine countermeasures, which are conducted as part of the Sea Breeze international exercises.

“Training is the main part of our success. The more sailors receive modern knowledge, the better we will be able to confront the enemy”, – emphasized the Ukrainian vice admiral.

Another important topic was the strengthening of air defense to protect strategically important ports of Ukraine, which play a key role in the stability of the country’s economy.

“Ports are not only strategic objects, but also a large part of Ukraine’s economic stability”, – emphasized the commander of the Navy.

Neizhpapa thanked the US for its support and offered the Sixth Fleet to join the Coalition for the Development of Ukraine’s Maritime Capabilities. For his part, Vice Admiral Jeffrey Anderson praised the professionalism and determination of Ukrainian military sailors, noting that their efforts have a significant impact on overall security in the region.

We will remind, earlier Vice Admiral Oleksiy Neizhpapa checked the readiness of the ship and boat tactical groups that ensure the security of the “grain corridor” and the protection of the Black Sea.
