The Ukrainian Reconstruction Agency signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German Marshall Fund

State recovery agency signed a memorandum of cooperation with the German Marshall Fund of the USA (GMF) with the aim of strengthening the institutional capacity of Ukraine in the context of the long-term reconstruction process.

In Rome, on the eve of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC), a special event was held with the participation of GMF and Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI), dedicated to the issues of Ukraine’s institutional capacity. Its objective was to promote transparent, efficient and accountable management of processes related to strengthening reconstruction efforts.

One of the main topics of discussion was the strategy of strengthening the institutional potential at the community level, as well as the formation of reliable public-private partnerships, which can accelerate the country’s recovery process and contribute to local economic development.

The meeting also discussed approaches to transform the existing fragmented recovery system into a sustainable management model with adequate institutional capacity that can effectively coordinate the long-term reconstruction process.

“For the state, one of the challenges is precisely qualitative examination and determination of priorities and objects of reconstruction and effective implementation of new tools and mechanisms”, — noted the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Serhiy Sukhomlyn.

He said that the agency has already created a number of expert councils in different areas. They include leading Ukrainian scientific institutions, international technical advisors and representatives of specialized associations. The task of these councils is to analyze restoration projects for compliance with local, regional and national strategies, to find effective solutions and to prepare concrete initiatives.
