The UN will be involved in negotiations to end Russia’s war against Ukraine

The UN will be involved in future negotiations on a ceasefire in the war waged by Russia against Ukraine. This was reported by the representative of the Russian delegation Hryhoriy Karasin.
According to Karasin, the negotiations between Russia and the USA, which took place on March 24, were “difficult, but useful.” He noted that the parties discussed “many problems”. The meeting between representatives of the USA and Russia took place in Saudi Arabia and lasted more than 12 hours. A joint statement is expected to be published.
The American delegation was represented by the Director of Policy Planning under the Secretary of State, Michael Anton, assistants to US Special Representative Keith Kellogg, and representatives of the Office of the National Security Adviser, Michael Waltz. On the Russian side, senator Hryhoriy Karasin and adviser to the director of the FSB Serhii Beseda took part in the negotiations.
We will remind that on March 23, the USA held negotiations with Ukraine in Riyadh. The parties discussed the issue of security of energy and infrastructure facilities. Defense Minister Rustem Umyerov noted that “the discussion was productive and purposeful.” The Ukrainian delegation stayed in Saudi Arabia for another day for an additional meeting with the US representatives.
On March 24, negotiations between the Russian and American delegations were also held in Saudi Arabia. The meeting was held behind closed doors, journalists were asked to leave the territory of The Ritz-Carlton hotel, where the negotiations were ongoing. Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov said that during the negotiations, the issue of the “grain initiative” was discussed to ensure the safety of shipping.
