The US and Russian delegations in Istanbul held a constructive discussion: the State Department

A meeting of representatives of the USA and the Russian Federation took place in Istanbul, Turkey.  In the US State Department stated on “constructive discussion” between delegations.

The US delegation at the negotiations in Istanbul was led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Russia and Central Europe Sonata Coulter, and the Russian side was represented by the Director of the North Atlantic Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Oleksandr Darchiev.

“The United States has expressed concerns about access to banking services and contract services, as well as the need to ensure a stable and sustainable level of staffing at the US Embassy in Moscow”Sonata Coulter said.

The State Department noted that the meeting in Istanbul was a continuation of contacts between the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Lavrov.

“During constructive discussions, both sides identified concrete initial steps to stabilize bilateral missions”, the US State Department said in a statement.
