The US held its first military parade in over 30 years on Trump’s birthday amid mass protests (video)

On June 14, 2025, a large-scale military parade was held in Washington on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the United States Army. This event took place on the same day that President Donald Trump celebrated his 79th birthday. Parade was broadcast live via the White House.

It became the first military parade of this scale in the USA in more than thirty years. Despite the obvious coincidence of dates, official representatives of the American authorities denied any direct connection between the celebrations on the occasion of the anniversary of the army and the birthday of the president.

In addition to Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, the parade was attended by key representatives of the American political and military elite. Among them are Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other high-ranking officials.

The celebrations were impressive in their scale: dozens of tanks and combat vehicles passed through the streets of the capital, demonstrating equipment representing different historical periods of the existence of the American armed forces – from the First World War to the present day. Seven thousand military personnel took part in the parade. In addition to technical demonstrations, members of the US Army’s Golden Knights Parachute Team also performed.

However, even before the start of official events, mass protests against the policies of President Trump began in many US cities. His actions regarding migration policy, as well as the decision to involve the military to suppress protests in Los Angeles, caused particular indignation. Protests were held under the slogan “No to kings”. According to the organizers, about two thousand protest actions were planned across the country in cities and towns of every state.

As informs According to CNN, in New York, according to law enforcement officers, about 50 thousand people joined the protests. Among the participants of the action were also well-known cultural figures – in particular, actor Mark Ruffalo, who came to the demonstration wearing a cap with the inscription “immigrant”, and actress Susan Sarandon.

The protests were mostly peaceful, but in Los Angeles, the police used tear gas to disperse the demonstrators.
