Poland cancels part of payments for Ukrainian refugees: what will change?
From July 1, 2024, the Polish government is updating the rules of aid for Ukrainian refugees. Among the key changes is the cancellation of some payments previously received by Ukrainians.
It shows draft law, which was published on the website of the Polish government.
What will be cancelled:
- One-time cash assistance to newly arrived refugees (300 zlotys).
- Funding for taking pictures during document processing.
- The “40+” program is for homeowners who have sheltered refugees for free.
Changes in the payment for accommodation:
Refugees living in collective centers may be required to partially pay for their stay from payments under the “800+” program.
What will remain:
- Legal stay in Poland for people with PESEL UKR status.
- Access to social programs, labor market and medical services.
- It is possible for specialists from Ukraine to obtain a work permit under a simplified procedure.
Other changes:
- Ukrainian children will be obliged to integrate more into the Polish educational system.
- The changes also concern the recognition of qualifications, in particular psychologists.
