The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the regulation of home and remote work

At the plenary session on Thursday, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved in general, draft law No. 10164-1 “On Amendments to the Labor Code of Ukraine regarding the improvement of the legal regulation of certain issues of home and remote work”. 295 People’s Deputies voted for the relevant decision.
“The purpose of the adoption of the draft law is to ensure legal certainty in the event of the employer’s need to send home or remote workers on a business trip, if this possibility is provided for in the labor contract on home or remote work; creation of favorable working conditions for parents whose children study remotely in institutions of general secondary education”, – says the explanatory note.
Yevgenia Kravchuk, deputy head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, noted that among the key innovations is the possibility of sending employees who work remotely or at home on business trips, if this is provided for in the terms of their employment contract. In addition, if the employee has a child under the age of 14 who is studying online, the law provides an opportunity to switch to a home or remote form of work upon agreement with the employer.
The document also provides for the strengthening of social protection for remote workers and the creation of more comfortable working conditions that meet modern challenges.
“The adopted Law will contribute to the restoration of the violated rights of home and remote workers if it is necessary to send them on business trips”, — explained the authors of the draft law.
