The Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the traceability of aquatic biological resources

The Verkhovna Rada adopted in the second reading and as a whole draft law No. 9545, which regulates the traceability of aquatic biological resources and products made from them. About this reported Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaly Koval.

“This law is another step on the way to European integration. It prevents illegal fishing and provides for the rational use and protection of aquatic biological resources. I am convinced that this law will not only provide the population with high-quality products produced from aquatic biological resources, but will also stimulate the development of the economic potential of the industry.”, – Koval explained.

The document prescribes the key legal, economic and organizational principles of traceability of aquatic biological resources and products from them – both those that are in circulation on the territory of Ukraine and those that are imported or exported.

The purpose of the draft law is to introduce sustainable management of aquatic biological resources, fight against illegal, unaccountable and unregulated fishing, as well as conservation, protection and rational use of resources. The law will also help protect the rights and economic interests of business entities.

New documents are introduced into the Ukrainian legislation, which are mandatory for customs clearance of products from aquatic biological resources during export-import operations: catch certificates, re-export certificates and certificates of processing of the corresponding products.

The adopted law creates a legal basis for the sustainable management of fish resources, strengthening the economy, preventing shadow fishing, increasing transparency, removing barriers to trade with the EU and providing citizens with quality fish products.
