Ukraine and Ireland signed a bilateral security agreement: the main points
President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Prime Minister of Ireland Simon Harris signed a bilateral agreement on support for Ukraine and expansion of cooperation between the countries. About this informs Office of the President of Ukraine.
According to the agreement, since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ireland has provided Ukraine with humanitarian and stabilization aid, as well as non-lethal military support in the amount of about 380 million euros. In 2024, Ireland committed to allocating another 128 million euros for military support and 40 million euros for humanitarian needs.
Ireland will also provide demining equipment and participate in the international coalition for demining Ukraine. In addition, the country will consider new directions of support through the IT coalition, and will also provide training for the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the framework of the EU Military Assistance Mission.
Separate clauses of the agreement provide for support in the recovery of Ukraine and the implementation of reforms necessary to move closer to EU membership. Ireland will assist Ukraine in the process of holding Russia accountable for its aggression, in particular through the mechanisms of compensation for damages and increased sanctions pressure.
In addition, Ireland will participate in the implementation of the Peace Formula, promoting the return of illegally deported Ukrainian children.
This agreement became one of 26 bilateral agreements concluded by Ukraine after the adoption of the G7 Joint Declaration in July 2023.
