The Verkhovna Rada does not plan to reduce the mobilization age to 18 years

People’s deputy from “Servants of the People” and member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security Fedir Venislavskyi stated, that there are currently no initiatives in the parliament to change the lower age threshold for mobilization.

“No legislative initiatives to lower the mobilization age from 25 to 18 or to 20 years – neither in the parliament in general, nor in the specialized committee of the Verkhovna Rada on issues of national security, defense and intelligence in particular – are being considered”, he noted.

Similarly, according to him, the issue of compulsory mobilization of women is not considered in the parliament. He emphasized that the current legislation provides for the mobilization of women only with their consent. According to the current legislation, women registered as conscripts can be called up for military service during mobilization only with their voluntary consent.

“All other statements, in particular those relating to the forced mobilization of 18-24-year-olds after they have completed basic military service, are manipulations and speculations, including by some of our colleagues.”, – added the People’s Deputy.
