The Verkhovna Rada will consider Zelensky’s bill on NABU and SAPO on July 31: Stefanchuk

The Verkhovna Rada will hold an extraordinary meeting next Thursday, July 31, to consider the presidential draft law on guaranteeing the independence of the SAP and NABU. About this reported Verkhovna Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.
“The meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine regarding consideration of the urgent presidential bill “On Amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and some legislative acts of Ukraine on strengthening the powers of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office” (registration number 13533) will be held on July 31, 2025. – said Stefanchuk.
The Speaker noted that he intends to propose to the Parliament to adopt this document immediately in the first reading and as a whole, as well as to support its immediate signing.
“In addition, the parliament will consider other important legislative initiatives”, Stefanchuk added.
The explanatory note to the draft law states that the current version of the Criminal Procedure Code, adopted on July 22, may create threats to the effectiveness of the anti-corruption system in Ukraine. In particular, this concerns the independence of NABU and SAP. The document emphasizes that the purpose of the draft law is to “guarantee the strengthening of the institutional independence of NABU and SAP, as well as ensure reliable protection of their activities from the influence and interference of the aggressor state.”
